Patron's Word - Maison Joseph Drouhin

Founded in Beaune in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin, the eponymous company owns a magnificent vineyard in Burgundy, including its famous Beaune Clos des Mouches.

Built up over the decades, the vineyard, which today covers 80 hectares, produces nearly 60 of the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, Côte Chalonnaise and Chablis. With its pioneering spirit, the company also expanded abroad in 1987 with the creation of a 100 hectare vineyard in Oregon.

Held by the same family since its foundation, the Maison Joseph Drouhin is today managed by the four great grandchildren of Joseph Drouhin. From vintage to vintage, they perpetuate the tradition and innovate in order to go further in the search for that "elegant perfection" that makes the reputation and the style of their wines.

Since 1988, the Maison Joseph Drouhin has chosen an organic and biodynamic approach. The care of the soil and the vines is done exclusively with natural products and everything has been done for several decades to respect the earth, the vines, the environment, man and biodiversity.

It is with great pride that the Maison Joseph Drouhin supports with conviction and enthusiasm the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne as a Great Founder. Bourgogne is a land of welcome, and all of these three cités from Chablis to Macon will highlight the extraordinary diversity of our appellations, and will help the public, both experienced and novice, to understand our Climats.
