Below are the key dates for the project, from the first idea to the design of the exhibition space.
DECEMBER 2010
The BIVB validates the idea of a project to create a cultural center for wine, within the framework of its Plan Amplitude 2015.
SEPTEMBER 2012
A feasibility study confirms this opportunities presented by such a project, based on collective education and communication with regard to Bourgogne wines with tourists. The idea for a network across the main wine-producing areas is validated.
1st SEMESTER 2015
Creation of a detailed program for the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne project. In parallel, the economic model is established.
MAY 2015
The city of Beaune undertakes to be the commissioning body for the Cité in Beaune, which will be part of major redevelopment project for the city. The Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne project will be piloted in tandem with the BIVB.
4 JULY 2015
The Climats of the Bourgogne winegrowing region are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This recognition, which benefits the entire region, underscores the validity of the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne project, which aims to create an attractive site for educating and communicating with the general public.
2016
Preparatory studies are carried out for the Cité in Chablis and Mâcon.
DECEMBER 2016
The wine industry validates the project for the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne during the BIVB’s AGM, giving the green light for the operational phase of the project.
1st SEMESTER 2017
Round-table for partners and financiers. Establishment of business plans and legal recommendations.
19 DECEMBER 2017
Signature of the agreement with local authority partners and financiers of the project Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne.
MARCH 2018
Launch of a tender process to select the commissioning teams for the Chablis and Mâcon projects: Tender for architecture and exhibition design.
SEPTEMBER 2018
Nomination of the commissioning body for the Cité in Chablis and Mâcon (architect)
NOVEMBER 2018
Launch of a tender process within the framework of a global public performance market for the Cité in Beaune, to select a private operator for design and construction.
END OF NOVEMBER 2018
Nomination of a scenographer for the sites in Chablis and Mâcon.
FEBRUARY 2019
Nomination of a museographer for the Cité in Chablis, Beaune et Mâcon.
13 JUNE 2019
Creation of an operating body, the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne Association.
NOVEMBER 2019
Appointment of a designer-constructor for the Cité in Beaune.
17 NOVEMBER 2019
The Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne in Beaune is officially unveiled during the Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction.
2019 AND 2020
Development of content and exhibition design for the wines and Climats of the Bourgogne region.
